Georgia State Flower

I always believed the Magnolia to be Georgia's state flower, but it's really the Cherokee Rose. The name came from the Cherokee Indians because they widely distributed the plant. I've yet to see one, but they're said to be excessively thorny with vivid green leaves. It's been the state flower since the early 1900's, prooving me wrong again for the first time!
